SAP Portal PAR Migration to EAR

As you already know PAR files are no more supported in EP 7.3. All the existing PAR files needs to be migrated to EAR file. Below is the screenshot PAR migration tools

The following sections provide information about migration of custom portal applications from SAP NetWeaver 7.0 to 7.3 and higher.

As of SAP NetWeaver 7.3, portal applications are packaged in a format that is different from the PAR (Portal Archive) format used in previous versions.

For detailed information about packaging formats, see Converting PAR Files.

Procedure

If your entire system has not been previously migrated, and you only need to enable an existing application to run in SAP NetWeaver 7.3 without modifications, perform the following steps:

1. Convert your application's PAR file in SAP NetWeaver Portal.
   For more information, see Using the PAR Migration Tool.
2. Redeploy the converted file in the new environment.

If an application does not work as expected, or if you intend to modify your application project, perform the following steps:

1. Import the application PAR file into SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (NWDS).
   For more information, see Importing PAR/EAR Files.
2. Make the necessary adjustments.
   For more information, see Adjusting and Modifying Migrated Applications.
3. Package and deploy the application.
