The Analyse Option for Portal Content

Well, we have always liked any software which tells us what is to be done as best practice.

It was fun and we could also tell our bosses, see this is the recommendation of the Tool and we have to implement.

Now when it comes to Portal, there is nice option called Analyse.

Log in to the Portal and Hit the Content Administration ==> Portal Content.

Select the Folder in which you need to analyse.

Right Click on the Folder and select Analyse.

There are quite a number of tests available for analyzing the content.

Best thing is we can save the tests we selected.

Multiple tests can be selected to run, but this takes time and you may get a timeout error.
Better run 1-2 selected tests.

One Test I found interesting that was : Check use of Worksets

Run this test to check that worksets are used correctly the tool says.

Lets do it.
Select the test and hit Run Tests Button.

The Results are displayed.

Now this is interesting.

The result says consider using Role Folder instead of a workset in this Role

Click on Details.

the result says:
Worksets can have a negative impact on runtime performance. If the workset is located inside a role, we recommend that you use a role folder instead of a workset.

Similarly we can select other tests and note the results and take a call on next steps.
